Life is a school for continual learning. Or so it is for those who live with an open heart and mind.
I would like to share with you a recent incident that affected me in a different way. At the airport, I & my husband were at a counter when a man came by my side and I get to hear as he burped ALOUD. Instant reaction, I stepped back with this unpleasant happening. Surprised I was at his indifferent attitude as he stepped ahead, unapologetically, towards the counter. In order to convey the message right away across to him, I told about his uncouth behaviour to my husband in a complaining manner.
The man's wife gestured towards me that her husband has a hearing problem. I could then see that he had an hearing aid on the other side.
Before I could reconcile, the family moved away. I felt uneasy and wanted to apologize to them for my instant reaction without knowing the fact. I looked around for them but could not find them.As I & my husband were waiting at the lounge before boarding the plane, a young man came by and apologized. Apparent it was, as he explained that he was the son of that man and had come to apologize on his father's behalf who is suffering from Amnesia along with hearing disorder. Tears were bound to float in my eyes and I tried to control so they would not roll down. I told him that I had been looking for them as I wanted to seek their pardon. I walked along with him as he took me to the place where his parents were seated. His mother was not even aware that her son came to us to apologize. He briefly told her that I was the lady who got disturbed by her husband's act. Pain through her eyes matched with, as she said, 'sorry'. And I, with tearful eyes, apologized at the same time.
I handed over my card to their son as a gesture to compensate for my thoughtless reaction.
A lesson learnt! You may consider this as my virtual confession, not just to you, but also seeking pardon from the Cosmic powers.
